Walton High Tech Industries Ltd. has been rewarded the ‘Best Premier Pavilion Award’ at the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF)-2014 that ended on Monday. Walton, the country’s leading electronics, electrical and automobile products manufacturer, also bagged the highest sales & VAT paying organization award. Commerce Minister Tofael Ahmed handed over the ‘Best Pavilion Award’ to Humayun Kabir, Executive Director (PR & Media) of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited, at its concluding ceremony as the chief guest on the fair premises at Sher-e-Bangla Nagor in the city on Monday, the last day of the month-long exhibition. Executive Director of Walton (Foreign Trade Monitoring) Md. Nazrul Islam Sarkar received the ‘Best VAT-payer Award’ from the chief guest. The DITF authorities have selected Walton pavilion as the best Premier Pavilion for its eye-catching and beautiful construction, outstanding exterior design, attractive interior decoration and choice of visitors and customers. Walton has also been adjudged as the best VAT-payer organization, like in the past, depositing the highest Tk. 8,10,613 to the government exchequer as VAT. Besides, Walton has been recognised as the best selling company of electronic and automobile products of the country. After receiving the best premier pavilion award, Humayun Kabir, in his immediate reaction, said: “The awards have heightened our responsibilities. Walton, from the beginning, is trying its best to provide the world standard products to every household of local customers at affordable prices. Walton branded products are now being exported to different countries of the world, and it is said that Walton works as brand ambassador of Bangladesh-made products in foreign market”. It can be here mentioned that Walton had first set up an attractive pavilion taking part in the DITF-2004. In that year, it received the second Best Pavilion Award. Since then Walton pavilion has kept receiving the best pavilion award every year. This year Walton set up its pavilion, comprising an area of 2,500 sq ft at the DITF. At the entrance point of DITF ground, the eye-catching Walton pavilion, which was colorfully decorated with lighting and gardens of different flowers, was the main attraction to the visitors and customers. Customers surged the Walton pavilion everyday to buy Bangladesh-made products. This year, Walton pavilion exhibited 400 models of electrical, electronics, automobile and household products, belonging to 32 categories. Besides huge local sales, Walton received export orders worth 50 lakh US dollar (Taka 40 crore) from Nepal, Myanmar and Tanzania at this year’s fair.
