Walton has won the first prize under the premium category at the just-concluded 18th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF).The DITF authorities have selected Walton pavilion as the best for its beautiful construction, outstanding exterior design, attractive interior decoration and choice of visitors and customers. At the same time, Walton has been adjudged as the best taxpayer. Like previous years, Walton has been adjudged the best taxpayer paying t he highest Tk 9.23 lakh as tax. Besides, Walton has been recognised as the best selling company of electronic and automobile products.Walton, country’s leading electrical, electronic and automobile goods manufacturing company, has won the best pavilion award constructing an attractive pavilion at this year’s DITF. The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) organizes the DITF every year. Commerce Minister GM Quader handed over the Best Pavilion Award to Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited S.M. Mahbubul Alam Khalid at the concluding ceremony of the DITF 2013 held at the fair premises at Agargaon in the city on Thursday afternoon, the last day of the month-long exposition.The Commerce Minister also thanked Walton for its outstanding contributions to manufacturing and marketing hi-tech products locally. Executive Director (PR & Media) of Walton Humayun Kabir received the Best Taxpayer’s Award from the Commerce Minister. Head of the Walton’s Creative and Publication Department Uday Hakim said the awards would significantly inspire Walton to move forward.Uday Hakim said Walton has been trying its best to manufacture high quality products at affordable prices. “Walton has been exportinghigh-quality products to different countries of the world. So, Walton can be termed as the Brand Ambassador of Bangladesh-made products,” he said.Walton first set up an attractive pavilion taking part in the DITF 2004. In that year, it received the 2nd Best Pavilion Award. Since then Walton pavilion has been adjudged the best every year. This year Walton set up its pavilion, comprising an area of 2,500 sq ft at the DITF. Customers thronged the Walton pavilion everyday to buy Bangladesh-made products. They were also fascinated witnessing the beauty of Walton pavilion. It may be mentioned that Walton displayed and sold 136 different models of electronic and automobile products, belonging to 25 categories.Walton also received an export order worth Tk 80 crore from a Bahraini company at this year’s DITF. Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Commerce ABM Abul Kashem, MP, FBCCI President Kazi Akramuddin Ahmed, Commerce Secretary Mahbub Ahmed and EPB Vice-Chairman Suvashish Bose, among others, were present at the concluding ceremony.
